Art of the Deal

Fate Intervened

So after all the excitement of our purchase wore off and we started to work out the details of everything involved to not only restore the manor, but also clear out the acres of overgrown fields, we realized pretty quickly we needed help and lots of it. As we started to investigate companies that specialized in turnkey property management, we knew that it was going to take lots of investment and patience (years) before we actually got the manor in working order. Then fate intervened. It turned out that we had family vacationing nearby while we were drowning those first few weeks at the manor. At this point we only had the bare essentials to stay there, yet they willingly came to help out. Upon exploring the estate, our uncle quickly became enamored with all the possibilities and shared our vision to bring this enchanted place back to its former glory. He offered to quit his job and lead the restoration effort for us. Beyond our wildest dreams could we have ever imagined such a generous offer. It was such a relief to put the manor in the hands of trusted family, experienced in both construction and agriculture, we knew we had just hit the jackpot. Within a month, we had worked out all the minor details and put together a 24 month project plan and budget. By early fall, our uncle had his bags packed and headed up to our manor, leaving his home in the sunny south to help turn our boutique Galician winery / bed and breakfast into a reality.
